What Should We Do about that Moon ?
A wine bottle fell from a wagon
and broke open in a field.
That night hundred of beetles and all their cousins
That night hundred of beetles and all their cousins
gathered and did some serious binge drinking.
They even found some seed husks nearby
and began to play them like drums and whirl.
This made God very happy.
Then the 'night candle' rose into the sky
Then the 'night candle' rose into the sky
and one drunk creature, laying down his instrument
said to his friend - for no apparent reason,
"What should we do about that moon?"
Seems to Hafiz most everyone has laid aside the music
tackling such profoundly useless questions.

haha, ah Hafiz, always pointing out our foibles.
Hello!
I just found your blog last night. I am a student of Sufism in Colorado. I always smile deeply - and remember - when I read this writing of Hafiz.
Thank you!
Sometimes you get too drunk to play and it's best just to lie back and look at the Moon.
Remeber, wine and beer is proof god (not capitalizing god was intentional) loves us and wants us to be happy.
them there some lucky beetles.
why do we always seem to be under the impression that anything *should* be done?
OH MY GOD, that's amazing! haha, I love it.
It echo's Jon's question as to whether our spirituality helps us "enjoy ice cream better."
them there ARE some lucky beetles, buford.
thanks, I'm going to read this to my yoga class on Thursday.
Delightful Hafiz, bringing smiles to our faces as we laugh at ourselves.
